At OSCAR Foundation, football is more than just a sport, it is a powerful pathway for learning, growth, and confidence building. Recently, OSCAR’s Skills Tests were conducted across our center’s in Mumbai, giving children the opportunity to demonstrate their progress in essential football abilities such as dribbling, passing, ball control, and shooting.
For the young participants, the Skills Test felt like an exciting game-day challenge. But behind the cones, drills, and goals lies a much deeper purpose. These tests are an important part of how OSCAR tracks each child’s development within the Football and Life Skills Programme.
During the assessments, coaches carefully record performance data for every participant. This information allows the coaching team to monitor progress over time, understand each child’s strengths, and identify areas where additional support may be needed. By analyzing this data, coaches can design more focused and personalized training sessions that help players improve their technical skills while also strengthening their confidence and discipline.
The Skills Tests are also a reflection of OSCAR’s commitment to combining sport with structured learning and evaluation. In the sport-for-development space, measuring impact is essential. These assessments ensure that every child receives meaningful guidance and that the programme continues to evolve based on real evidence of growth.
For many children, the tests are also a moment of pride. They get to see how far they have come, from their first uncertain touches on the ball to executing controlled passes and confident shots on goal. Each drill becomes a marker of progress, reinforcing the idea that effort and persistence lead to improvement.
At OSCAR Foundation, every touch, pass, and goal tells a story, not just of football skills, but of resilience, learning, and personal development.
Because when children are given the right support and opportunities, they do far more than play the game, they grow through it.
