This International Women’s Day, OSCAR Foundation celebrated the incredible women who stand behind our young participants every day, their mothers and caregivers. At our centres in Seawoods and Mahalaxmi in Mumbai, the football field transformed into a vibrant space of celebration as parents, primarily women, came together for a special football tournament organised just for them.
The event aimed to recognise the vital role that mothers and women in the community play in supporting children’s education and participation in sport. While they are often the loudest supporters from the sidelines, this day gave them the opportunity to step onto the pitch themselves and experience the joy, teamwork, and energy that football brings.
The day began with warm-up activities led by OSCAR coaches, followed by friendly football matches between teams of parents. Laughter, cheers, and moments of friendly competition filled the field as many of the women played football for the very first time. The tournament created a welcoming environment where participation mattered more than performance, and where every goal was celebrated with enthusiasm.
Alongside the matches, the event also featured fun activities and interactive games that encouraged teamwork and participation. These activities helped create a lively atmosphere, ensuring that everyone, whether playing, cheering, or simply watching, felt included in the celebration.
For many of the women, the day was more than just a sporting event. It was a moment of recognition and empowerment. Stepping onto the football field allowed them to connect with one another, build confidence, and celebrate their own strength and resilience.
At OSCAR Foundation, engaging families is an important part of building a strong support system for children. When parents feel connected to the programme, they become powerful champions of education and sport within their communities.
By organising this International Women’s Day tournament, OSCAR Foundation not only celebrated women but also strengthened the bond between families and the programme. The smiles, laughter, and shared moments on the field reflected a simple but powerful truth: when women are empowered, entire communities grow stronger.
As the day concluded with group photos and celebrations, one thing was clear, the spirit of the game belongs to everyone. And on this special day, the women of Seawoods and Mahalaxmi truly owned the pitch. ⚽🌸
