Deepa Nair is a Communication Professional with over ten years of experience in Business Journalism and Public Relations. She has worked for some of India’s reputed publications like The Hindu. Deepa believes in OSCAR’s approach towards education and in developing life skills to bring about a sustainable change in low-income communities.
Anil Rathod is the Finance Manager of ‘Teach For India’ – an organisation known for its nation-wide movement of outstanding college graduates and young professional working towards eliminating educational inequality in India. Anil brings over eight years of finance and operations experience to OSCAR and advises us on matters relating to funding and improving operational efficiency. A native of Mumbai, Anil is well-versed with the non-profit sector and understands the ground realities given his vast network.
Ashok Shankar Rathod
Founder – Trustee
Born and brought up in Mumbai’s Ambedkar Nagar slum, Ashok saw many children from his community leave education in pursuit of earning money. Some children even fell prey to drugs, gambling, and illegal activities. In his personal capacity, he discouraged many from taking such a route, but realised that this challenge was huge and required a unique approach. A staunch believer in the power of education, Ashok was inspired to start OSCAR Foundation despite his little means.
Suraj figured early in life that a good education can enable families to come out of poverty. After completing his schooling, he worked with various non-profits to understand grassroots issues in education in India and supported them in their awareness campaigns. Seeing Suraj’s zeal for improving lives of children at various education forums, OSCAR Founder Ashok Rathod asked him to join OSCAR as a Co-Founder. An MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from NMIMS, Suraj works on developing OSCAR’s Education Programme and brings in his expertise in Financial Management, Fundraising, Operation Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Project Development.
Dr. Shefalika Narain
Dr. Shefalika Narain is an academic with more than 20 years of experience in research and teaching. She has contributed her research to organisations like IMF (International Monetary Fund) and held leadership roles in academic institutions in India. Currently she is serving as the Director of Institute of Research for Innovative Strategies (IRIS), Mumbai.
A fitness freak, marathoner and passionate contributor to health, women & child welfare sectors, Rajeshwari (Rajee) are keen on furthering her contribution to these areas. She has over 25 years of professional experience with expertise in Process automation, Organizational change management, Business Process Transformation, Program management and IT-Operations strategic alignment. She is an alumnus of INSEAD and a qualified Cost Accountant with experience in Financial Services / Insurance & Media sectors. She is currently Heading Technology and Vice President with Radio Mirchi, India’s leading Radio Channel and a group Company of Times of India
Rajmohan A Amonkar
Rajmohan focuses on intellectual property and employment laws in India. An alumnus of St Xavier’s College (Mumbai), his exposure to science and technology whilst pursuing his Masters in Biotechnology at Scotland enables him to deal with complicated technical and scientific issues peculiar to the domain of intellectual property. Rajmohan has worked extensively on policy making in domains such as health, medicine, and human rights. He has taken up causes of public relevance such as Newborn Screening, demanding that screening procedures be mandatory in government aided hospitals, and fighting against the practice of Milk Adulteration at the Bombay High Court. Rajmohan is an active subscriber to Advocate Sans Frontier and other international organisations. He has lived and worked in New York and Scotland.
Manmohan is a practising lawyer at the Bombay High Court and other courts in India. Prior to embarking on his legal career, Manmohan completed BSc from St. Xaviers College, Mumbai and Masters in Biotechnology from Scotland, UK. He has authored and presented several papers, including a paper on patent pools, and presented at the International Aids Conference, at Vienna, Austria. Manmohan has keen interest in the health sector and has filed PILs in the Bombay High Court pertaining to the health sector.
Pramod works as a consultant KPMG social service arm. He is a graduate from IIM Bangalore and IIT Hyderabad. Pramod’s passion for football along with a will to do something for the betterment of society brought him to OSCAR Foundation in 2013. Since then, as a pro-bono consultant, he has been helping OSCAR plan out new projects and improve existing activities such as marketing, fundraising, etc. Pramod also has strong industry experience having worked as Scientist at Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and subsequently as Procurement Officer at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
Director od Development
Thomas has experienced the positive impact that one can have on young disadvantaged youths when there is a collective passion, commitment, and dedication to working together. After a career in music industry management, Thomas pursued his interest in the development sector. Thomas’ support and insights have made OSCAR Foundation sustainable given his clear vision for social change and development.
Manager – Football Programme
Orlando ensures smooth functioning of OSCAR’s Football Programme in our centres across India. He often says, “We don’t just teach Football, we coach children on living a better life.” Orlando has worked at the grassroots operations team of ISL franchise Mumbai City FC and Sportz Interactive and assisted in Hero ISL and IOS Boxing in digital media. Orlando holds an MBA in Sports Management from NASM college, Mumbai.
Priyank looks after Internal Control of Accounts and Finance, managing funds, preparing financial formats, internal auditing, and supports OSCAR Foundation in its financial decision making. Priyank believes in working hard and maintaining a positive outlook towards life. He feels that our personal growth is linked to the growth of the community around us and having a vision helps us. Priyank has worked with multi-nationals giants in the shipping industry and brings with him a lot of knowledge and experience in financial data management. Priyank holds a CA-Inter degree from ICAI, New Delhi.
Shraddha organises different football for development initiatives in her community in Thane near Mumbai. She believes in creating a positive impact in the lives of children she works with and being a role model in the society. Shraddha has the distinction of being invited to Qatar and Russia as a Generation Amazing Youth Ambassador to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2018. Shraddha supports OSCAR’s communication team and various initiatives in OSCAR’s Football Programme. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree from Mumbai University.
Manager – Human Resources
Asawari works with the OSCAR team across India centers to ensure its smooth functioning. She believes that perfect co-ordination leads to better results. She also supports the Founder in providing a safe and secure environment for the beneficiaries. A Master’s in Microbiology graduate, Asawari also holds a diploma in Business Management from Indo-German Training Center, Mumbai.
Executive – Education Programme
Yash works with OSCAR Co-Founder Suraj Patro to implement Education Programme projects. He believes that the best investment for future generations is to invest in the early years of a child’s life, through education. Yash is highly committed to the development sector from his school days and has been volunteering at various organizations and communities for more than ten years.
Maruti Chauhan is not just a coach, but also an OSCAR beneficiary and an inspiring role model. He has trained more than 400 children and Young Leaders so far and plays a crucial role in organising OSCAR events. Maruti believes that working hard with dedication and focusing on goals will lead to a bright future. Maruti has travelled to France for the streetfootballworld.org festival. He had dreamt about taking a team for an international tournament, and he lived that dream in 2017 when he visited UK with 14 kids for a match. Maruti is a D-license and FA-1 Licensed coach with certifications from Grassroot level training, QPR(Queens Park Rangers), Real Madrid Foundation, Mumbai City FC, and Generation for Peace.
Executive – Young Leader’s Programme
Govind assists in managing OSCAR’s flagship Young Leader’s Programme and supports in training Young Leaders across India. He has trained more than 450 youths in Maharashtra, Goa, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Karnataka. Govind believes that sports have the power to change lives and mindsets of people in the community.
Fardin believes that one should be honest about his or her work, be efficient in time management, and develop strong communication skills. He also shares his experience and knowledge with Young Leaders by conducting outdoor workshops. Fardin is a professionally trained coach and has received certification from organisations like KNVB, Premier Skills, Generation for Peace, QPR (Queens Park Rangers), and Scort Foundation. He has also participated in Disaster Management training organised by the Government of Maharashtra (Directorate of Civil Defence) in India.
Football Programme Associate
Kumar Rathod oversees Mumbai’s Football Programme. He also organises capacity building training for OSCAR’s Young Leaders. Kumar plays a key role in coordinating tournaments and expositions for OSCAR’s beneficiaries. Kumar Rathod is a role model for children in his community and believes that ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’.
